Yousef will be releasing Circus Live Vol 1 to commemorate the many parties they’ve thrown over the past 8 successful years documenting the great music played and artists they’ve featured.

It’s not often a UK club night has the ability to stand the test of time, whilst continually remaining innovative and true to their musical style; Liverpudlian based night Circus has not only managed to achieve this during their 8 years in existence, but has also become recognised as a clubbing institution in the north of England.

Now in unison with their major blow out on the 25th of September, Circus owner and resident Yousef will be releasing Circus Live Vol 1 to commemorate the many parties they’ve thrown over the past 8 successful years documenting the great music played and artists they’ve featured. Circus started in 2002 in the venue Masque, somewhere they still hold events today, but has since also expanded to the larger venue Nation which holds up to 3000 capacity to accommodate the immense line ups they are recognised for today. Consistently booking artists such as Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Luciano, Loco Dice- the list is almost endless, you can see why the night has only grown with time.

During the last year when things couldn’t peak any further for Circus, Radio 1 were looking for a club to host the 500th essential mix party. They considered every major club worldwide, Yousef’s Circus was (in the words of radio one) the only choice…. Yousef and his long lasting partner Richard went to work, pulling in Richie Hawtin, Sasha, Aeroplane, of course Pete Tong and Yousef himself.

A 4 hour live global broadcast from circus in its original 1100 capacity club followed. It seemed only necessary to put together a CD to give the fans something to document the many epic nights experienced. The brains behind the success; Yousef, has similarly had a career that matches the expansion of his night.

2010 has seen Yousef’s DJ and production career go from strength to strength, he recently took up the reigns at his long hoped for residency with Carl Cox at ‘The Revolution Continues’ which is held weekly at Space Ibiza- an achievement he has worked towards for some years.

He has released on labels such as Cocoon, Harthouse, Saved, Monique Musique, Renaissance and also recently released his debut artist album ‘A Collection of Scars & Situations’ which received an excellent response from the dance community. Recent debut gigs include Circo Loco at Dc10 Ibiza, Womb in Tokyo, D-edge Sao Paulo, Kanzitip Festival, Aquasella Festival- to say Yousef is a busy guy is somewhat of an understatement.
