This year's edition of the biggest music event in Bulgaria - Spirit of Burgas, will welcome for the sixth time some of the hottest artists of the world music scene. The abundant programme will offer various style artists from almost all music genres - reggae, hip-hop, drum and bass, punk, soul, hardcore, dub step and many other. The first names revealed by the organizers are the crazy pop-rap duo Rizzle Kicks, the pearl Selah Sue, Chase & Status DJ Live, the reggae legend Little Roy, the festival beasts Che Sudaka and the explosive Enter Shikari. A limited number of promotional tickets for Spirit of Burgas 2013 are already on sale on the Eventim network at the price of 99 BGN.
Ever since their first show on Bulgarian ground the two British men, Saul Milton and Will Kennard, have conquered the hearts of thousands of people. CHASE & STATUS were one of the big “surprises” of Spirit of Burgas 2012 which is probably the reason for them being one of the most wanted artists for the 2013 edition of the festival! Well, there are only a few months left until their return on the main stage – accompanied by MC Rage again.
Do you remember the voice in which soul, reggae and dub step meld into a sedictive and deep blend? Yes, you can hardly mistake Selah Sue. She is only 23 years old but she managed only for a few years to awake Europe from its continuous music sleep. Selah Sue’s career is like a fairytale where dreams come true. Selah grew up in a small Belgium village. She started to write songs as a teenager without even thinking she would become a singer one day. She uploaded several of her tracks on her MySpace profile where they gathered tens of thousands of views. This in turn grabbed the attention of Because Music. Her first single Raggamuffin immediately shot her to the top of the charts. The subsequent hits Crazy Vibes, This World and Summertime established her as one of the most promising young talents. Since 2011 Selah Sue is the pearl of every big European festival and now we welcome her at Spirit of Burgas 2013.
Little Roy is a true legend in the reggae circles. He was among the first Jamaicans who started advocating the Rastafarianism outside Jamaica and one of the first reggae artists who marked commercial success with reggae songs. Little Roy has released several albums, but his latest, Battle for Seattle, with covers of songs by Nirvana in a reggae version, caused a real catastrophe among the musical circles. BBC defines it as "A bold and brilliant collection of covers.", and Noel Gallagher erupts with "This is probably the greatest thing I've ever heard".
Rizzle Kicks are the most exciting British pop-rap duo since, well, ever. Their beats satisfy the hip hop faithful who remember the genre’s golden age, while their songs pivot on the sort of melodies and hooks that charm pop kids and rap heads alike and bring the charts alive. Their first official single, Down With The Trumpets, hit the Top 10, spending 13 weeks in the top 40. It was swiftly followed by Heart Skips A Beat, a collaboration with X Factor star Olly Murs, and finally Mama Do The Hump one of the biggest selling singles of 2012. Their energetic and entertaining live appearances brought them fame as a great festival band. Rizzle Kicks are currently working on their second studio album, tracks of which we’ll hear at Spirit of Burgas 2013.
The Sunday line-up of Spirit of Burgas presents an explosive mix of some the most thrilling and best live bands: Che Sudaka and Enter Shikari.
The history of Che Sudaka is really interesting: emigrating from Argentina and Columbia they come to Barcelona where an accidental meeting led them to one of the biggest worldwide stages. With hard work, lot of creativity and real faith in the success Che Sudaka win the fans’ respect and sympathies as well as the reputation of one of the craziest live bands.
The British band Enter Shikari’s first appearance is in 2003. It’s really hard to define their genre, but the mix of hardcore, punk and break beat is their trade mark. Enter Shikari’s live performances, the buzz and all guerilla activations organized especially for the fans make them on the top of music charts.
