Boblebad's genre-defying back-catalog includes gorgeously emotive Balearic soundscapes, brooding deep house grooves, adventurous journeys into electronica, deviant contemporary disco refinement, and all things between. It has come on this label in the form of last spring's "Vill Falafel" and on Eskimo, Full Pupp, Paper Recordings, and Aquavit Beat. The trombonist is also a painter and visual artist and teases his upcoming album in fine fashion here.
The askew chug of "Kald Fisk", which means Cold Fish in Norwegian, is impossibly enticing. It leads you down a path strewn with synthesized jazz sounds that heat you to your core with an odd lot of chopped-up vocal stabs and skittish drum work keeping you moving. The dynamic groove is full of deft detail and rhythmic surprises that will make an impact on any DJ set.
