In Concert (Volume One) by Butane & Riko Forinson

As we enter into the latter half of a challenging 2020, San Francisco-based DJ, producer, and Extrasketch head Andrew Rasse, aka Butane, and regular Italian production partner Riko Forinson are showing no signs of slowing down as they ready yet another string of releases for lovers of quality and consistent house and techno. "In Concert", a play on words of sorts, means both literally ‘acting jointly' (symbolizing Rasse & Forinson's impressive ongoing collaborative output within the studio), and also the enjoyment and consumption of live music (which we all miss dearly). 

Here, presented as a home concert of sorts, the duo's two-part project will see the pair combine to showcase a selection of new material within the more ‘musical' end of their artistic spectrum - beginning with four fresh productions via Volume One this September.

Opening with the slow-burning hooky vocals of the lead track "Let Go", the duo exhibit a combination of influences and sonics from across the electronic sphere to produce a sure-fire post-COVID indie festival jam. "Connect" welcomes more blissful stylings as woozy chords and delicate vocals merge with hazy grooves throughout, whilst "Something Different" utilizes expertly programmed organic percussion arrangements alongside meandering melodies and a blossoming core groove.

To close, "I'm Asking You" offers up the most up-front production in the package as slick drum licks work beneath warping atmospherics to nail down a driving yet delicate dubby journey and shape up proceedings adeptly.
