HOOPALAI drops Electric Tartar
Montreal duo Hoopalai drops rugged retro house 12-inch, Electric Tartar, on the Icewax Records label.

Opening cut "Electric Tartar" is a night-time joyride with colorful arps, an irresistible bassline, and filtering synths, its chic reverb giving it a disco-tinged dose of nostalgia. Next up is "SonaBar2am", this after-hours offering melts minds with dubbed-out rhythm and continuously evolving effects. "Das Geht Nicht" then closes out the record, its sweeping guitars and tingling acid making for a synth-fueled dancefloor bomb.
HOOPALAI was founded in 2015 by longtime friends Lebaron & Pfreud, who quickly established themselves as key artists in the Montreal scene by frequenting spots like Stereo Bar and Piknic Electronik alongside names like Gene Farris, Wolf + Lamb & Marc Rebillet. Their debut release was charted by legendary American artist Felix Da Housecat, leading the way in a series of quality releases on labels such as Get Physical Music, Kindisch, Poésie Angulaire & Victims Music Company.
