Bugged Out Weekender 2016 - First Acts

Now in its 5th year, the annual Bugged Out Weekender is descending once again on British holiday institution Butlins, Bognor Regis for a super-healthy dose of hedonism in the otherwise sober month of January in 2016.

Announcing the first wave of an all star line up featuring a mix of old school regulars like DJ EZ, Erol Alkan, Skream, Jackmaster, Eats Everything and Heidi plus the soon to be initiated Paranoid London and The Black Madonna, the BUGGEDOut! crew will be leading its mass of wayward disciples into 2016 for some seriously riotous fun, leaving all notions of sense and frugality at the door.

UK clubbing institution BUGGEDOut! first expanded into a weekend of winter shenanigans in 2012 and has since become the most unapologetically absurd and infamously naughty event in the festival calendar. Returning again to its best-loved venue Butlins in Bognor Regis, BUGGEDOut! will be celebrating the Weekender’s 5th birthday with a reliably massive selection of the best names in electronic music as well as a host of non-musical antics to ensure the January blues are well and truly banished. Across a multitude of dancefloors, secret hidden parties, treasure trails, crazy golf and pool parties, an unabashed and dedicated crowd will preside and conquer over dry January, artists and punters alike, all in the same ball-bit of anarchic revelry. There really is no other event like it.

For the 2016 instalment, the BUGGEDOut! team has assembled the first batch of heavyweight artists to get the anticipation mounting... Godfather of UK garage DJ EZ, one of the most revered party starters on the circuit and showing no signs of slowing down will be back after his storming 2014 performance for another pure slice of decks education. Of course, BUGGEDOut! regular jokers Skream and Jackmaster will be coming back where they belong. From playing with his Numbers crew in 2012, to playing two sets in 2013 to going b2b with Optimo, Ben UFO and Four Tet as well as hosting his own crazy golf tournament in 2015, the Weekender just wouldn't be the same without Jackmaster. Skream’s debut at the Weekender came in 2013 when he first showcased his new house direction after a much loved Weekender house set in the Mixmag DJ Lab. Joining them is original member of Magnetic Man and bass music pioneer Arthur Smith aka Artwork. Now a firm favourite of the Weekender, Artwork hijacked the BUGGEDOut! Twitter account on announcement day to celebrate and what an insightful couple of hours that was.

Larger than life beat maker Eats Everything became a breakout star at 2012’s event when the relatively new act totally smashed an early Sunday slot with his unique strand of bass heavy underground sounds, and makes a more than welcome return at the next edition. The Inimitable Heidi will be delivering one of her super jackin’ high octane sets for the third  year in a row, rocking the dancefloor like only she knows how. Never failing to incite the Weekender crowd, no one works harder or has more fun than this ultimate house & techno sister powerhouse. Another total legend and BUGGEDOut! family member Erol Alkan will be making his inevitable homecoming as well as leading lady of bass music, Hannah Wants.

George Fitzgerald is also back for another round of resort based high-jinks to dish out sassy garage inflected grooves with his signature swag, along with German ‘super house’ heads Andhim and Belfast’s own duo Bicep - long time discotheque tastemakers and two of the best DJs in the game. Known for bringing the underground to the masses, a couple of Radio 1 favourites will be back once again, B.Traits joining the dots from jungle to house with another blazing set for 2016, while Toddla T brings the bass and the bounce.

BUGGEDOut! are also proud to welcome for the first time a couple of scene stalwarts including one of Chicago’s finest selectors and Smart Bar’s musical director The Black Madonna currently seducing the globe with her limitless knowledge and eclectic selections. 2016 will mark her Weekender debut and it’s sure to be a highlight. On the UK techno tip, Paranoid London will be getting down with their own dirty acid-inflected selections for one of their unmissable live sets and Switzerland’s finest techno export Deetron will no doubt bring the heat.
